We are a family business that provides Electrical & Mechanical Building services to the construction industry & have been doing so since John Wady started the company in 1959, then known as JA Wady Electrical Contractors Ltd.

We have an excellent reputation for quality & completing projects on time & in budget which provides us with many repeat customers.

Our sites are looked after by our team of Contracts Managers, Site supervisors, Electricians & Apprentices. Wadys have always employed apprentices, one retired in February after spending 47 years with us. We currently employ 7 apprentices & usually take on 2 per year. Much of our work is new build Schools, Leisure Centres & Care Homes but we also carry alterations, refurbishments, testing & maintenance.

We can design, install & maintain any project with a value up to £1million electrical or £2m M&E.

Design is usually carried out in house unless it is a large project or one that requires a high sustainability (BREEAM) assessment, in which case we would use one of our preferred design companies.

Installation work such as mains distribution, lighting (now all usually LED lighting), emergency lighting, fire alarms, power, data, door access & commissioning are carried out by our team of fully qualified engineers. We then sub contract out to one of our preferred sub-contractors the Mechanical, Intruder alarm/CCTV & occasionally the data & fire alarm but all still fully project managed by us.

When the project is handed over it is all fully guaranteed for 12 months & looked after by our maintenance team. After a year we can advise the client on the best options to comply with their statutory requirements & provide this ongoing maintenance service.

We currently employ 35 staff with a turnover of £3.7M and look after a range of Customers, Most of which we have worked with for over 20 years. see our Projects page for some of the work we have produced for these Customers.
Most of our larger projects tend to be new build such as Stopsley Daycare Centre, Bedford 3/2 Tier schools programme, Shortstown Lower School, Silsoe Lower, Great Denham Primary & Kings Reach School– All in Bedfordshire. Projects outside the county included Batchwood Tennis Centre, our largest electrical only job with a value of £679,000, Cotlandswick Leisure Centre, Wren Academy, TWI Pressure Pit, Leacroft Care Home DS Smith Marketing to name but a few.
We also carry out a lot of refurbishment work such as Bedford school science labs, Bedford one stop shop, Bassmead Manor wedding venue & various offices & barn conversions.

Our Special Projects team not only look after all the maintenance but also domestic clients, small housing developments, Cranfield University, electrical testing & anything slightly unusual such as listed/historical buildings.
We have a vast amount of experience & can carry out pretty much any job give to us. We understand that there are different skills required for a new house, new school, care home, occupied buildings, listed buildings & testing etc so we employ different electricians to carry out these differing tasks.

Regardless of size every job is allocated a Contracts Manager who is the customers first point of contact. They look after all the Health & Safety, labour resources, procurement, costs & liaison. Dave Bishop is the Operations Director & he looks after all the Contracts Managers & site teams.
